Kansas on the International Stage
In July 2026, Sonus Chamber Choir was notified that we had been successfully invited to the 14th Montana International Choral Festival in Missoula, MT, after a strenuous audition process. From the moment the invitation to one of the finest international festivals hosted in the United States arrived, the ball started rolling to make the decision whether Sonus Chamber Choir could plan to attend. After countless internal meetings, discussion with the artists, and the crunching of many numbers, the ensemble’s board of directors voted unanimously to accept the invitation to represent Kansas and the United States on the international stage.

With this in mind, including conductor Kolby Van Camp and a photographer/videographer to document the trip for ensemble archives and social media material, Sonus Chamber Choir anticipates 28 individuals to be traveling to Montana and back to Kansas.
How much will the trip cost?
The Sonus Chamber Choir board of directors established a $75,000 fundraising goal for the 2027 concert season that functions in three separate, but equally critical parts: travel and participation ($30,000), artist support and operations ($20,000), and artistic excellence ($25,000). The board of directors feels that this budget will adequately prepare Sonus Chamber Choir for the 2027 concert season, the bulk of which will be sent preparing and concertizing for the festival, and the festival itself which is the culmination of the season.
